Fife Health Charity community grants
In January 2025 10 locally based Fife charities received a grant of up to £5,000 each through our first ever community grants programme supporting children and young people across Fife. These small grants have supported identified unmet needs in their local communities. Their passion and enthusiasm for the work they do is inspiring.
The charities have been creative delivering a range of activities -
Childcare during the Easter and summer holidays for primary age children
- Adventure play for disabled children, young people and their families
- Structured sports programmes
- Befriending schemes
- Outdoor educational activities and issues based workshops relating to health and wellbeing
- Creation of a sensory room
- Weekly youth cafe for 12-17 year olds – activities which help to support positive mental health
- Kitbag (North East Fife) – to help children to talk about and understand how they feel
We are now over half way through these grant applications with children and young people benefitting from our grants through:
- Participation in team activities to improve social skills
- Increasing self-esteem, reducing anxiety, building resilience and confidence
- Targeted emotional support to children and young people facing challenges related to school attendance and engagement
- Support for young people who are feeling lonely and isolated due to mental health problems
- Developing personal and life skills
Fife Health Charity’s Community Grants programme has been developed to help us in our aim to improve the health and wellbeing of people across Fife. Over the five year period (2024 – 2029) we plan to make funding available annually to enable charities working in communities across Fife to help improve people’s mental wellbeing.
In 2025, the second year of this programme we are specifically looking to fund work that supports children and young people.
