LCD ceiling panels used to delight (and distract) patients
Patients attending the outpatient department in the Victoria Hospital have shared how much the department has been improved and brightened with the installation of the LED ceiling panels. Janice Dickson, Senior Charge Nurse tells us that patients have openly approached the clinical team to tell them how much the area has improved and that they feel more comfortable in the waiting area.
Similar ceiling panels were also installed in the Gynaecology Treatment room in Queen Margaret Hospital after a similar request from the Gynae team who wished to distract their patients from examinations and treatment. Charity Director, Mark McGeachie commented "We're pleased to be able to provide improvements to areas of high footfall. These panels certainly brighten up clinical areas and do have the added bonus of taking patients' minds off their treatments".

Direct admissions waiting area gets a makeover
In June 2025, Ward 54 came forward with the proposal to refurbish an area of their ward to create a direct admissions area to accommodate their planned admissions. Their goal was simple; to create a bright, welcoming comfortable space for their patients.
They achieved this through the purchase of high back chairs and a recliner to accommodate their wheelchair users. Old and mismatched furniture was replaced with bright and comfortable seating which added to create a comfortable and welcoming environment.
The addition of the new furniture not only benefits the patient group which includes wheelchair users but also has the added benefit of doubling up as a resting spot for patients' families so that they are able to stay overnight to spend essential and meaningful time with loved ones.
