- Date awarded: April 2026
- Location: Older Adult Community Mental Health Team
The Charity awarded a grant to the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) to purchase a new projector after their existing equipment became outdated and incompatible with newer software. The projector was originally requested to support the development of a new support network for people living with Lewy Body Dementia and their carers.
Since being installed, the equipment has been used far more widely than originally anticipated. It now supports a range of patient and staff initiatives, including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) groups, Living Life to the Full sessions and internal departmental training.
The enhanced technology has significantly improved the team's ability to deliver information, education and support in an accessible and engaging format, helping people across Fife to stay informed, feel supported and better manage their wellbeing.
To date, around 150 people are estimated to have benefited from the new equipment. The impact is expected to grow substantially in the coming months as the new Lewy Body Dementia support group launches. The team anticipates that, as the programme expands across Fife, more than 1,000 people could ultimately benefit from the projector and the services it helps deliver.
Reflecting on the project, staff highlighted the importance of having reliable, fit-for-purpose equipment, describing the ability to deliver training and information services as "vital" and "invaluable" to supporting patients, carers and colleagues. The team also praised the grant process, reporting that the application and funding experience was smooth and helpful from start to finish.
Fife Health Charity is delighted to support projects such as this that improve patient experience, enhance staff capability and help communities across Fife access the information and support they need.
This project demonstrates how even a relatively small grant can have a far-reaching impact. By providing modern, reliable equipment, we have helped staff deliver high-quality support, education and training to patients, carers and colleagues. We are particularly excited about the future launch of the Lewy Body Dementia support network, which has the potential to provide a unique source of support for people across Fife.
