This small grant made it possible to deliver the Fife Sleep Network Event in June 2026, bringing together professionals from across health, education, social work and the third sector to strengthen how sleep support is offered to children, young people and families across Fife.
The event created a welcoming space where practitioners could share ideas, learn from one another and build meaningful connections across services. Through this collaborative approach, the programme helped ensure that sleep support is delivered more consistently, compassionately and effectively throughout the region.
A total of 136 practitioners attended the event, with the wider training programme enabling 404 staff to complete dedicated sleep support training.
Feedback showed that the event has contributed to:
- Improved practitioner confidence — strengthening skills to support families experiencing sleep difficulties
- Better cross service collaboration — helping teams work together more effectively
- Greater awareness of local resources — ensuring families can be guided to the right help at the right time
- A shared understanding of sleep’s importance — recognising sleep as a vital foundation for health and wellbeing
Practitioners also highlighted that improving sleep often leads to wider benefits, including better behaviour, enhanced emotional wellbeing and increased family resilience.
Success was measured through:
- Event feedback — including comments such as “There was great energy, enthusiasm and shared learning.”
- Staff reflections and shared learning discussions
- Practice examples and case studies presented on the day
- Structured “connect and learn” sessions where participants reflected on their experiences and shared what was working well in practice
One area for development is continuing to build on the momentum created by the event; strengthening how learning is shared more widely across services and the provision of ongoing opportunities for networking and collaboration.
