Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is an early intervention programme offered to young parents age 20 and under and care experienced parents up to the age of 25. Family Nurses visit parents in their homes from early pregnancy until the first child is two years of age. The FNP programme aims include supporting and promoting parents’ to help to build their confidence to attend local community groups and enjoy other community activities with their children.
Following on from previous successful Christmas events, the FNP held a Christmas party for young families across Fife with over 110 people attending. During the party each child received a book with the aim of encouraging young parents to understand their role in supporting the ongoing development of their children through play and reading. There was also special guest appearances from Bookbug and Santa which brought smiles all round.
Colleagues at Play on Wheels were also on hand to offer families a relaxed, playful space to connect with one another and explore a wide range of age-appropriate play activities including arts, crafts, toys and music creating a warm, festive atmosphere filled with fun and connection.
Parents’ feedback from the party was overwhelmingly positive with common themes including the value of meeting other parents, opportunities for children to play, and experience something new in a safe and welcoming environment.
