But what if there was a way to navigate that journey with more knowledge and confidence? That’s what Labour Hopscotch is designed to do.
Funded entirely by Fife Health Charity, Labour Hopscotch features a series of colourful stations resembling a hopscotch board, which are strategically placed throughout the maternity unit.
Each interactive station offers exercises and strategies tailored to specific birthing needs.
These include:
Print and installation of signage and stations
Purchase of equipment
Staff training
It’s been amazing to see the positive impact Labour Hopscotch has had on our patients. By providing them with knowledge and practical techniques, we're helping to create a more positive and informed birthing experience. This would not have been possible without the support of Fife Health Charity.

Labour Hopscotch has even caught the attention of international healthcare professionals. Recently, a delegation from an Icelandic hospital visited the Victoria Hospital to learn more.
Labour Hopscotch was so helpful for me and my partner. The exercises and tips gave us the confidence and knowledge to approach childbirth with a positive mindset. It was reassuring to know we had options and could actively participate in the birthing experience.
