The newly refurbished older adult mental health ward at Queen Margaret Hospital, Ward 3 was officially opened on 21st January 2026.
Back in 2024, Fife Health Charity provided a large grant to create a new patients and family lounge area in the earlier ward. Now, following the opening of this new ward, these charity funded components have been moved into their new location on Ward 3.
Fundraising Manager Alice, and Finance Manager Ian, from Fife Health Charity attended the opening in January where they learned how the improvements will help provide a safer, more therapeutic and relaxing environment for older adults requiring inpatient mental health care, as well as improved facilities for staff and visiting families.
Fife Health Charity funded the new roof panels, mural and comfortable seating, creating an area where patients can relax, socialise and spend time together. Feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive, with many saying how much they enjoy using the space.
Transformations like this one are only possible thanks to the ongoing generosity of our donors.
It was fantastic to see the space already being so well used by patients, and commenting on how welcoming it now feels.
